Our Journey

In the 2023/24 school year, BGCDSB launched an innovative project called Limitless Ventures, funded by the Ministry of Education’s Removing Barriers grant. This initiative aimed to dismantle accessibility obstacles and enhance outcomes for students with special education needs and disabilities. Our inaugural year saw the creation of the ei2 store on our existing board platform, where we collaborated with companies like Annies Chocolates and the Georgian Bay Soap Company, and developed our own products such as bath soaks, spice blends, seed papers, planter boxes, and fire starters. The project emphasized skill development, increased independence, certification acquisition, and customer service navigation. Students from Sacred Heart High School and St. Mary’s High School engaged in a hands-on learning process, identifying strengths and areas for growth through fluid skills assessments. Their success was evident in local business showcases and student-run pop-up markets.

As the initial funding concluded in August 2024, we secured additional support to broaden our project’s reach and impact. This year, we’re excited to expand by including schools from across the province and transitioning to the Shopify platform, which will enhance our students' experience with inventory management, e-commerce, POS systems, and other crucial workplace skills. We will continue to participate in local markets and diversify our product offerings. Looking to the future, we would like to extend an invitation for products to the broader community of capable workers as we grow.  For more information on our goals, student experiences, and testimonials, please visit our How Do We Do What We Do and/or Our Team tab.
